Girl Code Socials is a teen social group that aims to empower young girls and provide a supportive community for them to connect and grow. Every day, we're given a chance to learn from our past mistakes, heartaches, and choices. This realization is embodied in our logo, which features a bullseye with an arrow pointing left, acknowledging the setbacks that have shaped us. Yet, the bullseye also represents precision and determination, symbolizing our commitment to moving forward with optimism and hitting our mark. It represents setting goals, staying focused, and making progress in life. As members of Girl Code Socials come together, they are encouraged to aim high, support each other's journeys, and strive towards their aspirations with confidence and determination. BEING THE TARGET VS HITTING THE TARGET
Being the target implies being a passive recipient, vulnerable to the influences and actions of others. It's like being a stationary bullseye, helpless to defend against the arrows of criticism, negativity, or adversity.
On the other hand, hitting the target requires proactive effort, focus, and determination. It's about taking control of your life, setting goals, and working tirelessly to achieve them. When you're hitting the target, you're no longer a passive bystander, but an active participant, empowered to shape your own destiny and overcome obstacles.
This mindset shift can have a profound impact on one's self-confidence, resilience, and overall success. It's a choice we must make every day: do we want to be the target, or do we want to hit the target and take charge of our lives?

As a business owner, Human Service professional, and soon-to-be BSW graduate, I've come to realize that my true calling is to serve and lead. Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, as a mom of six and devoted wife, I struggled to find my footing as a leader due to a lack of guidance, self-doubt, and an absence of supportive role models. Instead of nurturing my strengths, I invested in my weaknesses, which led me down a path of negativity. I was the class clown, a bully, and a fighter, always on the defensive and more concerned with protecting my image than listening to others.
But this approach only held me back from reaching my full potential. It's a universal truth that we all face challenges, but with the right support and encouragement, we can break free from negative patterns and make positive changes. For me, that turning point came when I was 15 and God brought godparents into my life who saw beyond my flaws and believed in my potential. They accepted me unconditionally, valued me when I couldn't value myself, and spoke life-affirming words into my heart.
Today, I stand as a testament to the power of transformation. No matter how stuck we may feel, or how others may perceive us, we all have the capacity to change for the better. Each of us has a unique, God-given talent and potential waiting to be tapped, and with the right mindset and support, we can unlock our true potential and soar.
